Big Little Lies season 2 is out there

A few days ago, the second season of Big Little Lies entered the Internet sphere. HBO is the producer of this popular show and the second season is one of the most anticipated arrivals in all of 2019. The first episodes is now out there, but was it worth the wait? Does this look promising, or will you be tempted to end the story after the first episode of Big Little Lies season 2?

If you have an HBO Now subscription in the United States or an HBO Go subscription somewhere else in the world, or maybe an HBO Nordic subscription in the Nordic countries, you will already enjoy access to this highly anticipated show. The first episode is out there and we are now able to reunite with the Monterey five from season one. But, who are they?

From Big Little Lies season 2 episode 1
One of the ladies in the Monterey Five

The Monterey Five is the nickname of the five women who were there on the night when the husband of Nicole Kidman in the series died… or was he killed? The rumors are swirling and the ladies try to move on with their lives. Since it was Nicole Kidman’s husband who died, the mother of the husband has come to help Nicole Kidman with her kid and at home, and the mother-in-law is played by Meryl Streep. And yes, she is one of the most exciting characters in the second season of this show (so far). She is an annoying mother-in-law, yet helpful, but also trying to understand what really happened to her son.

One of the best moments from the first episode of Big Little Lies season 2 is the conversation between Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon at the beach by the café. I simply feel the confusion, anger, and strange feelings of Reese Witherspoon as Meryl Streep in her character share her skepticism and doubts about Witherspoon’s character and personality, making it one of the worst conversations ever. Man, I would have run from that conversation as quickly as possible if I could.

Big Little Lies season 2 judgment (based on episode 1)

I don’t really know where this is headed, and that might be a problem at the moment. Will the second season lead the Monterey Five to jail? What will Meryl Streep do and how will she influence the story? There are a lot of questions, but I do look forward to the upcoming episodes to see where this is headed.

I feel as if the writers did a great job with the first episode of season 2. They have managed to keep the story going (a story that was supposed to end after season 1), but the question remains as to what will be the actual plot of the second season? Where is the story headed? We don’t know yet, but it will be interesting to find out. I will give the season a couple of more episodes to prove it’s value and it’s right to exist.

Have you seen Big Little Lies season 2 episode 1? How did you like the first episode?

We will be served a new episode of Big Little Lies every week. The first arrived on June 9th, meaning that the following episodes will come on June 16th, June 3rd and so on. Just like the first season, big Little Lies season 2 will consist of seven episodes in total.
