Brothers (The Blacklist S07E17) – I really missed Raymond Reddington!

We are getting a new episode of The Blacklist tonight named Roy Cain. But, while waiting for the new episode to come, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the last episode named Brothers. It was an episode entirely without a blacklister, and it was all about Donald Ressler.

I had no clue what to expect in the episode before I watched it, but I had a feeling that it would be entirely about Ressler as we followed him back to Detroit to meet his brother. It was also built into the finish of last weeks episode of The Blacklist in which he got a mysterious call from home.

There have been a couple of strange episodes of The Blacklist throughout the years. A few weeks ago, we had the special episode in which Raymond Reddington turned into a detective and solved a crime on his own. That was the Cornelius Ruck episode, and I really loved it. And then in the third season of The Blacklist, we were handed the Cape May episode, one of the strangest (and to me boring) episodes ever. However, I do realize that among the hardcore The Blacklist fans, that is one of the most popular episodes, so if you haven’t seen it or don’t remember it, you should definitely give it a try once again.

Brothers - The Blacklist season 7 episode 17

But, let us return to the 17th episode of The Blacklist season 7 titled Brothers. It is called Brothers because it is all about Ressler and his relationship to his brother. We are told about a crime they did back during their youth, and now they are about to get into trouble, because a dead body they buried is about to be discovered. That is why they have to remove the body before it is too late. However, things aren’t really that easy as someone steals the car with the body and takes advantage of the fact that Ressler works in the FBI.

In the last minutes of the episode, we meet Elizabeth Keen as well. But, besides her, nobody from the standard The Blacklist crew shows up in the episode. And to be honest, I find that to be a little bit boring. I missed all the other guys, especially Aram and Reddington, my two personal favorites in the show.

How will the season end?

The seventeenth episode came to an end without influencing the overall picture at all. We did not get to know more about what’s up with Reddington, and we have no clue what’s up with Katarina Rostova. But, things are heating up as the season end draws near.

The new episode that will premiere on NBC tonight is called Roy Cain, and it deals with Blacklister number 150. Next weeks episode is called The Kazanjian Brothers. I hope the Kazanjian Brothers will be a more interesting episode than the Brothers episode. And since we are handed new blacklisters, I do believe that Raymond Reddington will be in such a state that he will be able to help us out. Maybe we will get to know more about why he just fell to the ground at the end of the Nyle Hatcher episode?

Are you watching The Blacklist on NBC in the United States? Or are you watching The Blacklist season 7 on Netflix? I would love to hear about where you are located in the world and how you are streaming The Blacklist online.

By the way, I never really got over the fact that the bad guy in the Brothers episode is the one who played the house owner in the Ace Ventura movie. And the strange thing is that he hasn’t changed a bit since that role, even though it is about 25 years since he actually played that role. To be honest, Ace Ventura was/is much more entertaining than the Brothers episode, but why choose one of them when you can stream both?
