But, what you can watch on Netflix depends a lot on your actual location. How to change your Netflix country – an illustrated tutorial
1. You need a Netflix account
First of all, you will need to have an active Netflix account. If you do not have a Netflix account yet, go to www.netflix.com and create an account. You can also start by downloading the Netflix application to your iOS device or to your Apple device and register an account through the application.
If you have your Netflix account registered and ready, look around to find some fantastic movies and TV series that you are ready to watch later today. But, how can you gain access to Netflix content in the USA, in Canada, in the UK, and in Japan? This is what you will need to do!
2. Use a VPN to change your IP address
This is the first step that you will need to make. A VPN is a Virtual Private Network, a tool used by millions to secure their online data. When you use a VPN, all your data is encrypted, making it almost impossible for intruders and hackers to steal your data or spy on your online activities. When you connect to a VPN server, you will get a new IP address (the IP address of the VPN server you connect to). In the picture above, I am using SurfsharkVPN. I open the application and connect to a server in Japan. This will give me a Japanese IP address, and with this, I am able to watch Japanese Netflix. I can also use SurfsharkVPN to watch Netflix content in the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, the UK, France, Italy, Singapore, Australia, India, Sweden, Norway, and some more countries.
In the picture above, I am connecting to an ExpressVPN server in Canada. This will give me a Canadian IP address, with which I can stream all the content available on Netflix in Canada. I can also use ExpressVPN to watch Netflix content in the United States, in the UK, in the Netherlands, in France, in Italy, in Germany, in Japan, and in a few other countries.
4. Open your Netflix application or visit www.netflix.com
After you have connected to the VPN server in the country of interest, restart your browser and go to www.netflix.com. You can also close the Netflix application on your mobile device and open it once again. You will then see the content of the country you are interested in. In other words, if you have connected to a VPN server in the USA with ExpressVPN, NordVPN, or SurfsharkVPN, you will now see the content available to Netflix subscribers in the USA.
