Is Spider-Man: Far From Home worth watching on Netflix?

Last week, I noticed that the newest Spider-Man movie in the series, Far From Home, arrived at Netflix. This was a movie I missed out on in the cinema, so I was very happy to see it so quickly arrive at the leading streaming service online. But, is it worth the time? And, is it worth using a VPN to change your Netflix region in order to watch Spider-Man: Far From Home on Netflix?

I didn’t watch Spider-Man: Far From Home alone. Instead, I watched it with a person very dear to me. She has watched all the old Spider-Man movies, but she has no clue at all about what’s up in the Marvel universe and with the new Spider-Man played by Tom Holland. So, how did we enjoy the movie?

But, before we continue – let me tell you how and where you can stream Spider-Man: Far From Home on Netflix!

Are you ready to stream Spider-Man: Far From Home on Netflix?

How and where to stream Spider-Man: Far From Home on Netflix

The newest Spider-Man movie from 2019 starring Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Jake Gyllenhaal, and several others can be streamed on Netflix in Thailand and in South Korea. That might sound troublesome, and it really is. But, there is one VPN provider on the market that will help you get access to these and to more than 15 other Netflix regions. The name of that provider is PrivateVPN, a Swedish-based VPN provider.

But is Spider-Man: Far From Home worth the time and money?

So, I was watching the movie together with someone I love, and it made me see the movie from a very different perspective. Earlier, you could turn on your TV and watch a Spider-Man movie without needing any knowledge to enjoy it. In the same way, you could stream Batman, and you could watch Spider-Man… and maybe even Iron-Man (at least a little bit). But, now – things are completely different. All the super-heroes have turned into characters in a larger universe. As a result, you cannot just sit down and watch Spider-Man: Far From Home with zero knowledge. Do you know why? It is so loaded with information based on what has happened in earlier Marvel movies, and first of all, on what happened in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. So, trying to watch and to understand Spider-Man: Far From Home without watching those movies first almost feels like stupidity. Of course, it can be done, but you will have a hard time really understanding what they are speaking about at times. And to be honest, this is awesome for Marvel enthusiasts who have seen it all and who love all the movies. But, for those who just want to watch a movie and who haven’t spent tens of hours in front of their screens getting to know the Marvel universe first, this might feel lame! And seen from such a perspective, I have got to agree!

But, since I have seen most of the Marvel movies, I had no trouble jumping into the story. As a result, I understood all the jokes and every single story they referred to, especially from the latest Avengers movies. This was kind of cool to me since I know those movies well.

Tom Holland is great in the role of Spider-Man. He is not your traditional super-hero, instead, he is doing mistakes, he says the wrong things, and he lacks confidence. This is especially important in his relationship with MJ, whom he really likes, but he doesn’t have the courage to say so. But, now they are going on a school trip to Europe, and he is planning on surprising her with a nice gift as they come to Paris. And even more important, he wants a break from all the super-hero stuff and simply live on with his life as a normal boy. Well – that is not going to happen this time either! But, what is happening in Europe?

Tom Holland and Jon Favreau in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Above you can see an image of Happy (Jon Favreau) together with Spider-Man in the movie. If you like Jon Favreau, make sure to watch his awesome creation The Mandalorian as well on Disney+!

Meeting with Mysterio in Europe

The first stop in Europe is in Venice. Here they are surprised as three of the elements attack the city. Spider-Man does his best to help out, but it is the great Mysterio who turns out to be the hero of the hour. He is played by Jack Gyllenhaal. He soon gets a firm place in the heart of both Spider-Man and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The next stop is in Prague, where they are getting ready to fight the fourth element, fire! This is how Spider-Man gets to know Mysterio, and it really seems as if they about to find the tone together.

However, Spider-Man is still only living in the shadow of Mysterio, and he hasn’t really been able to help out or do anything so far. So, how will this movie end? What will be the big plot of the movie? You can find out as you watch Spider-Man: Far From Home on Netflix.

What do the critics say about Spider-Man: Far From Home?

Just like the Spider-Man: Homecoming movie from 2017, Spider-Man: Far From Home was directed by Jon Watts. I guess the same people have recorded the same scores on IMDb because both these movies have around 7,5/10 as their score on this popular platform.

The Rotten Tomatoes audience is far more in love with the movie. Not only has the audience given the movie a 95% score, but the critics’ score is also 91%, which is a very high score considering how harsh the critics often are. These scores are very similar to the scores of the Homecoming movie, except for the fact that the audience seems to like Far From Home a bit better than they did with Homecoming.

The conclusion should be: If you liked Spider-Man: Homecoming, you should end up enjoying Spider-Man: Far From Home as well. At least if the audience and the scores from IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes tell the truth.

What do I say about Spider-Man: Far From Home?

If you haven’t seen the previous Marvel movies, and especially the Avengers movies, I would skip this movie. It doesn’t matter if you love Spider-Man. If you do, watch him ravel in the Avengers movies first, and then go ahead and watch this movie. If you don’t like any of the super-heroes, then stay far away from Spider-Man: Far From Home as well. If you like super-heroes, this is going to give you two nice hours in front of the screen. It is a cool plot in the movie, there are nice effects, and Spider-Man is always so harmless, yet funny. And since he fills like a human being, it is easy to enjoy his company for some hours while watching him.

My Spider-Man: Far From Home score: 7.5/10
