The Ethos Universal Wallet has been released!

The release of the Ethos Universal Wallet has taken place! The official tweet came from Ethos on Twitter on July 2nd, and people in the Netherlands can now access the Universal Wallet in Google Play Store.

We have written a couple of articles about the Universal Wallet earlier. Yesterday we said that the release of the Wallet is imminent, and said it would most likely be released within the coming days. We did not have to wait for days, we only had to wait for one day. So, now the Universal Wallet has been released, and guess who has given it a try?

First impressions of Ethos Universal Wallet

It is quite easy to get started with the Universal Wallet. You simply need to create a user and sign in. It is very easy to use the menu system, and you can see what it looks like on the screenshot beneath,

You will have two different options inside the wallet. You have the WatchFolios and you have you SmartWallets. There is a big difference between these.

The WatchFolios in the Ethos Universal Wallet

These have the same function as, for example, Blockfolio. The WatchFolios are there to watch out for your portfolios and keep you up to date with their values. These coins are not stored in the Universal Wallet, you simply keep track of them in the Universal Wallet.

The SmartWallets in the Ethos Universal Wallet

This is the real wallet function that comes with the Universal Wallet. Here you can store your very own tokens inside the wallet, and from here you can send tokens, and also receive them. When you first create a SmartWallet you will need to write down a 24-word key phrase, which is your private key to the wallet. Make sure to watch carefully out for this. You will also need to create a pin-code which is to be used as you send tokens to another address.

If I, for example, press the Bitcoin icon in the picture above and press receive, I will see a page with a QR-code and my personal Bitcoin address to which coins can be sent (all donations are received with thanks)!

These are the main functions of the Universal Wallet, but in addition, you can also take a look at a simple coin screen to see what’s up with the most important coins in the market. It is important to notice that not all coins are supported by the wallet yet. An interesting coin like Ontology cannot be found in the coin overview, and it cannot be stored in the wallet either. There are some small limitations to the wallet for this reason, but in general, this is fantastic!

I am really happy about the release of the Universal Wallet, and it will be great to follow it as more and more countries get access to the wallet.

Have you tried the wallet yet? Did you enjoy it? Did you get what you expected?
