The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 is out!

We have been waiting for it for a long time, but now the waiting time is over. The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 has been released, and it all started with three episodes on Hulu in the United States. Since then, the fourth episode has been released as well, and here I will share my thoughts on the third season, based on the first three episodes.

I have said it many times before, The Handmaid’s Tale was a TV series I originally didn’t intend to watch. I didn’t feel like watching it and it looked boring to me. But, listening to all the critics and friends I gave it a try, and I really enjoyed the first season. The second season didn’t feel as revolutionary as the first, but still, it was enjoyable. The season finale showed how Offred sent her kid to Canada while staying behind herself to help the revolution and bring liberty to the handmaids. And that is where we start in season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale.

The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 – some thoughts

I will not share a lot of information about what really happens in the first three episodes, but it is easy to say that the story goes on and that Offred is moved to a new home. In other words, she will no longer stay with the Commander (Waterford), but instead, she is staying with the man who earlier gave home to Emily, the one he just helped escape and who brought Offred’s daughter to Canada. This might sound ideal, but it is hard for June to understand her new boss, and it is hard for the boss to handle June. But, when her new lord doesn’t pay attention, together with other handmaid’s and Lidia’s, they work on helping the revolution and to bring the rebellion to the system.

This all sounds nice, but there is one thing that annoys me with the third season. In every episode, it feels as if they need to fill the episodes with content, but due to lack of material, we get several super slow motion clips in every single episode. This might be cool and those understanding the techniques behind such filming might enjoy it, but to me, this was pure boredom. I kept these thoughts to myself, but the first person I discussed the third season of The Handmaid’s Tale with said exactly the same.
