Network Ten is an Australian TV network, which is known by many as Channel Ten. They are one of the leading TV channels in Australia, and they allow their fans to watch a whole lot of programs online, using Tenplay.
If you try to watch Network Ten from outside Australia, there will occur a problem that is quite hard to understand. The problem is that you simply see a black screen and the video will not start at all. The reason is your geographical location, meaning that Network Ten blocks their online programs for viewers trying to watch from abroad.
This is a common strategy used due to copyright rules, saying that Network Ten is not allowed to broadcast their programs to viewers in the United States (for example). The way this is arranged is by using a geo-block which will find your current location, and if you are located outside Australia you will not be allowed to watch the video (instead you will see a black screen and a video that will not start).
SEPTEMBER 2019 UPDATE
People have had trouble watching Tenplay abroad using different VPN services lately. During my test today (September 9), I managed to stream all my favorite shows using the VPN provider described in this article. Give it a try yourself and no worries, they have a 30-day full refund policy. And again, it worked for me (I could watch the latest episode of My Life is Murder, my favorite show at Tenplay currently!)
The Sydney server is the one that does work, but it doesn’t seem to work always. Might be some IP addresses there working, while other’s don’t. One other option that does work with Tenplay is using the cryptocurrency based IPSX platform. You can read more about it here.
How to trick Network Ten and watch Tenplay from abroad?
To trick the website of Network Ten and lots of other similar sites you will need to make them believe that you are located in Australia, surfing with an Australian IP address. We have earlier written an article on the subject of how to get an IP address in Australia, and you can read that, or you can keep on reading this article for further information.
So, to watch Network Ten from abroad and to avoid the black video screen you need an IP in Australia. What we did as we fixed the problem was to use a VPN provider, a Virtual Private Network. The provider we found to be the best at first was IPVanish, but then suddenly Network Ten blocked their IPs. Then we suggested HideMyAss, but now Tenplay has blocked their IP addresses as well. But, a VPN provider that is still working to watch Tenplay abroad is ExpressVPN.
What you need to do is simply to visit their website, make a subscription, download their client, connect to a server in Australia, restaurant your browser and in seconds you are ready to go and free to watch Tenplay and the programs available there from wherever you are located in the world.
If you decide to try this (which you should), it can be nice to know that Express VPN has a thirty-day money-back guarantee, so if you are not satisfied and ask for a refund within seven days, you should get one!
This article has been updated in 2019 after Tenplay moved their streaming services to 10play.com.au!
How to watch 10Play abroad with ExpressVPN?
Would you like to see exactly how this works in practice? How can you use ExpressVPN to watch Tenplay from abroad? Take a look at the following tutorial video from YouTube to see it step by step and how it will work. It is important to know that the instructions are the same also on mobile devices. The only difference is that you need to have the 10Play application installed on your mobile device to stream the content. If you do not have the Tenplay application you will have to download it from the Google Play Store, or manually to your device from here (if you have an Android device).
Follow the instructions above, and if you haven’t signed up with ExpressVPN yet, click the link beneath to visit their website. Using that link you will still be entitled to the 3 months for free if you go for their 12 month subscription.
Do not forget that ExpressVPN has a 30-day money-back policy, meaning that you can easily change your mind later and regret, and still get your money back. It is also possible to use the subscription you have at three different devices and locations at the same time. This is very ideal, because either you can split the cost with two friends and all three of you use the subscription at the same time, or you can turn into a big-time streamer using ExpressVPN on one device to watch 10Play from abroad, while you at another device use ExpressVPN to stream American Netflix, and on the third device you watch the latest episode of Dr. Who on BBC in England using ExpressVPN.
The opportunities are endless, so use your imagination and have a great time watching Tenplay outside Australia.
