We did not really know this, but as we prepared for the Premier League 2016-7 season we suddenly realized that you can watch the Summer Olympics online on Hotstar in India.
Hotstar is in general almost the same as Star Sports, and it was as we visited the Star Sports website that we saw a big banner telling that we could watch the Summer Olympics online on Hotstar. That is in fact a brilliant service and a great way to watch the Summer Olympics online, so if you do not feel like watching the Summer Olympics on BBC or NBC, then Hotstar in India can be a great alternative. You will of course need an Indian IP address, because if not you will see an error message like this:
Luckily you can easily get that Indian IP address using the services of for example IPVanish, and then you will at once be able to watch the Summer Olympics on Hotstar. They do have fantastic streams available and you can at any time choose between all different arenas and competitions. As we mentioned this is something we discovered as we prepared for the Premier League which will start this upcoming weekend. With Star Sports being the only channel broadcasting the Premier League online for free, this is by far the cheapest way to watch the Premier League online for free.
The Summer Olympics will end on August 21st, but the Premier League will last all the way till May 2016, so you have all reasons to keep watching Star Sports/Hotstar all the way throughout the year.
