FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 venues

There will be used a total of nine different venues during the tournament. If you want to watch the World Cup live at the stadiums, go ahead and find your tickets right away. There will be quite a lot of traveling if you want to visit the actual cities, but it is a great reason for you to finally visit France and discover the amazing sights and attractions located all around the country. But, if you just want to watch the World Cup 2019 online instead and visit France some other time, follow the instructions at the start of the article.

The opening match of the World Cup will be played at Parc des Princes in France. This stadium has a capacity of almost 50,000 people, and it is a the second largest venue in use during the World Cup. This is the venue of Paris St Germain, meaning that it has rich and long traditions when it comes to high quality football.

The largest stadium used during the tournament is Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon. This has space for almost 60,000 people, and this is where the semi-finals and the grand final will be played. Once again, I really do hope it will be packed so that the women playing can experience what it is like playing in front of almost 60,000 people!

Besides the stadium in Paris and in Lyon, there will also be used venues in Rennes, Nice, Montpellier, Le Havre, Valenciennes, Reims and Grenoble.

Other interesting details about the FIFA World Cup 2019

The FIFA World Cup in 2019 will be the first tournament in which the women will enjoy the benefits of the VAR system (the video referee system). It will be interesting to see if the ladies will be as good at complaining and demanded the usage of the video referee during the matches as we saw among the men in recent years.

The best two teams in every group will qualify for the knockout stage. But, if you end up third there is still a big chance for your nation to qualify, as the four best “third place” teams also qualify for the knockout stage.

The bronze final will be played in Nice on July 6th, while the big final will be played in Lyon on July 7th.

The official mascot for the FIFA World Cup is named Ettie. She is a chicken happy about life and in love with football, and she is the daughter of Footix, the mascot for the World Cup arranged in France in 1998.
